Moar pictures of the Siemens EPD-1 guts

The lower large pad is the negative battery terminal, the upper positive. This is where I connected a Li-ion cell and the unit did something.

The weird springy sheet metal clip...thing...holds this:

The center pin of this weird thing is the unknown* trace, the case is connected to ground.

    Center pin is Reset.
    Short it to ground (few sec)for start device.

  3. you can use a small and flat LiPa accumulator (3,6V) like this one shown in this ebay auction: https://www.ebay.com.my/itm/Siemens-EPD-1-Digital-Alarming-Dosimeter-/400335199376

    Such accumulators were used in mobile phones in the past (Nokkia, Ericsson) so they should be still available on the after-market, but you have to design an improvised connection to those battery terminals shown in the picture above.

    Suitable charger (like ths shown in the picture) are also available.
